Nautilus è da anni il file manager predefinito di Linux Ubuntu. Un programma davvero straordinario, che ha saputo fornirmi un altro elemento utile per riconoscere la grande superiorità, in termini qualitativi, del mondo dell’Open-Source.
Questo prima che arrivasse la creativa idea di inserire Unity sul sistema. Da allora il mio rapporto con la distro si è fatto molto freddo e non si rimarginerà fin quando il DE non sarà eliminato dall’ottimo software che Ubuntu contiene. Ma parlando di Nautilus, come mai questa infelice scelta?
Nautilus 3.20 è messo davvero male
Ubuntu 16.04 integrerà Nautilus 3.18 al posto del 3.20. Sebastien Bacher da Ubuntu spiega:
“The new version is going to need more work which is not going to be done this cycle (some issues/regressions are being handled upstream in 3.20 but we can do that update with our GTK version, also the new copy dialog is a bit much of a change and upstream confirms it’s creating problems that they try to address with more UI changes.”
inoltre, parlando dei veri e propri problemi presenti sul 3.20 apprendiamo che:
The new nautilus is nice but needs some more work before being ready to replace the old one. Trying to document some of the reasons for the revert
– Some features have been removed that users seems to care about (upstream is adding back some as options in 3.20)
– Upstream identified some usability issues with the new file copy dialog which they are trying to address in 3.20
– The icon view canvas need more work to accomodate other zoom levels
– There are some annoying bugs that require work (symbols conflict between gtkfileselector and local copy), desktop background handling problems, …)
– It’s not easy to add back a menubar and we would prefer to have one under Unity for the LTS
Purtroppo, esistono ancora troppi problemi, troppi bug sul nuovo Nautilus, che sembra non volerne proprio sapere di arrivare in buona salute sul nuovo rilascio del sistema. Potete apprendere altre informazioni in merito qui.
